“I’m firing my laser” is most closely associated with the Shoop Da Whoop meme, a long-running internet joke that spread across forums, image macros, Flash animations, and YouTube in the late 2000s. The phrase became shorthand for intentionally overpowered attacks and chaotic random humor. Its rough, homemade style helped it stick, and creators still use it as a nostalgic reference in meme compilations, parody battle edits, and retro internet humor. It is often paired with other loud impact sounds like the MLG AIR HORN!!!!!!!!!!!.
About this sound
The classic I'm Firing My Laser meme sound from the Shoop Da Whoop internet joke, used in edits, gaming clips and over-the-top punchline reveals.
This clip is the famous “I’m firing my laser” line, delivered in a dramatic, exaggerated voice that instantly signals chaotic internet humor. It is short, loud, and deliberately overblown, which makes it perfect for sudden impact in a meme edit. The phrase lands like a punchline right before something absurd, destructive, or wildly overpowered happens on screen. Viewers recognize it as a throwback sound, so it often adds both nostalgia and irony at the same time, especially in low-fi or intentionally ridiculous videos.
