The sound comes from My First Girlfriend Is A Gal, known in Japanese as Hajimete no Gal, a romantic comedy anime where Junichi Hashiba is frequently overwhelmed by his confident girlfriend Yukana Yame. His flustered reactions became a natural source for reaction clips online, and this dubbed scream in particular spread on soundboards as a quick, reusable panic sound. Fans use it outside the show as shorthand for overreacting to cringe, surprise or romantic embarrassment.
About this sound
Junichi's scream from My First Girlfriend Is A Gal English dub, a short high-pitched panic yell used for anime reaction edits and shocked moments.
This is a brief, shrill scream from Junichi Hashiba in the English dub of My First Girlfriend Is A Gal. The clip lasts just over a second and captures a sudden burst of panic, embarrassment and disbelief all at once. His voice cracks upward into a frantic yell that feels both genuinely stressed and completely over the top. It works because the reaction is so exaggerated for such a short moment, making any awkward or surprising situation instantly funnier when this scream is layered over it.
