The Maneater was added to Lethal Company, the co-op horror game by solo developer Zeekerss that launched in early access in October 2023, in a later content update. The creature spawns indoors as a small, baby-like larva that follows players and cries, and if players fail to calm it, it grows into a large adult form that hunts the crew. Clips of its cry spread through gameplay videos and streams, where the sudden shift from helpless to hostile made it a favourite reaction sound for horror edits.
About this sound
Sound of the Maneater from Lethal Company, the baby-like creature that cries before turning hostile. Players use it for horror edits and jumpscare memes.
This is the Maneater vocalisation from Lethal Company, a short, unsettling cry that quickly turns aggressive. It starts like a distressed infant wail, thin and echoing in the facility corridors, then sharpens into the warning that the creature is about to change. In game the contrast is what makes it frightening, because the cute, helpless noise hides a fast predator. Out of context the clip keeps that tension, landing as an instant horror cue that makes a normal scene feel watched, unsafe and about to go wrong.
