The clip is tied to Rene Puente, who is known online as Loco Rene, and to the simple cat meow, or miau, that became associated with him. The reversed version turns that familiar sound into something stranger, which helped it circulate as a short meme audio for reactions and edits. It sits alongside other cat sounds online, from the sad meow song to playful cat laugh clips, but its backwards shape gives it a distinct identity. Creators keep returning to it because it is instantly recognisable, easy to place, and funny without needing any explanation.
About this sound
A reversed cat meow sound linked to Loco Rene, played backwards for a funny, distorted effect. Creators use it for memes, reactions and edits.
This clip takes a familiar cat meow associated with Rene Puente, better known online as Loco Rene, and plays it in reverse. Instead of a normal rising meow, the sound swoops in strangely, stretching and bending before ending with a soft, almost human-like sigh. It feels playful and slightly uncanny, like a cat trying to talk backwards. That odd, unexpected twist makes viewers pause and smile, which is why it works so well as a punchline. It adds instant silliness to a reaction, a failed attempt, or a moment that needs something weird rather than a straightforward animal sound.
