The sound comes from Despicable Me 2, the 2013 animated film featuring the small yellow Minions who speak in a playful invented language mixed with recognisable words. In the film the Minions become especially excited about gelato, and that enthusiasm made the chant easy to lift out of context. Short clips of the moment began circulating in meme edits, reaction videos and soundboard collections, where the clear gelato chant works even without seeing the scene. Its simple joy and instantly recognisable voices keep it popular for lighthearted content years later.
About this sound
The Minions' cheerful gelato chant from Despicable Me 2, with their playful gibberish and excited squeals as they enjoy ice cream. Great for funny memes.
This short clip captures the Minions from Despicable Me 2 in a moment of pure delight as they chant about gelato in their distinctive, high-pitched gibberish. Their voices overlap in excited squeals, giggles and rapid babbling, with the word gelato popping out clearly again and again, giving the audio a bouncy, childlike rhythm. It sounds chaotic in the best way, like a tiny crowd celebrating ice cream, and it instantly signals silliness and joy. Listeners usually smile before the clip ends because the Minions sound so earnest and overjoyed about something so simple.
