The sound comes from Moonwalker, the 1990 Sega arcade game inspired by Michael Jackson's 1988 film of the same name. In the game players control Jackson as he dances and attacks through stages, with his sampled vocal shouts punctuating special moves. Those short voice clips were later ripped and shared on soundboards and in video edits, where the Wow became a standalone reaction. Its connection to both Jackson's music persona and retro arcade culture keeps it in use for nostalgic memes and gaming content.
About this sound
The MJ Arcade Moonwalker Wow sound effect from the classic arcade game, featuring Michael Jackson's signature shout used for reactions and retro edits.
This is the short, high-energy Wow shout heard in the Michael Jackson Moonwalker arcade game, delivered in his distinctive falsetto style. The clip is bright, punchy and instantly recognisable, lasting just a few seconds with a clean arcade quality. It lands like an exaggerated expression of amazement, making even a small moment feel like a big reveal. Creators use it to underline surprise, excitement or a flashy move, and the retro game source gives it a nostalgic pop culture feel that works well in memes and reaction edits.
