About this sound

Neelix joins the battle sound effect from Star Trek Voyager, a short announcer clip used as a funny character intro for meme edits and gaming videos.

This is a short announcer-style clip declaring that Neelix has joined the battle, delivered with the dramatic energy of a fighting game character reveal. The voice is bold and theatrical, turning the friendly Talaxian cook from Star Trek Voyager into an unlikely combatant. That contrast is what makes it land, because Neelix is known for cooking, chatting and boosting morale rather than fighting. Played over an entrance, a spawn or a surprise appearance, it instantly frames an ordinary moment as an epic debut and gets a laugh from anyone who recognises the character.

Pro tip

Place it right as your character walks into frame or spawns in, then cut to a close-up on the name reveal. Keep music low under the announcement and do not stretch the three second clip, because the joke depends on a fast, serious delivery.

How people use it

Drop it when a friend joins your game lobby.
Use it for a pets dramatic entrance into a room.
Play it when revealing a new character in edits.
Add it to streams when someone new appears on screen.

More information

Neelix is the Talaxian cook and morale officer played by Ethan Phillips in Star Trek Voyager, which ran from 1995 to 2001. The joins the battle wording comes from the character reveal trailers for Super Smash Bros, where newcomers are announced in that exact dramatic style. Fans combined the two ideas into a short meme clip that treats a non fighting Star Trek character like a playable fighter. It spread through soundboards and edit communities, and it remains popular because the mismatch between Neelix and a battle announcement never stops being absurd.
