The line comes from Adventure Time, the Cartoon Network animated series, where Lumpy Space Princess uses Oh my glob as a playful, in-universe substitute for Oh my God. The character, a dramatic teenage princess made of lumps, made the phrase one of her signature reactions throughout the show. Fans clipped the exclamation for reaction videos and memes, where its exaggerated delivery made it easy to reuse for any shocking moment. It remains popular because it is instantly recognisable to Adventure Time fans and funny even to viewers who have never seen the show.
