The Ohio ringtone name comes from the wider Ohio meme trend that spread across TikTok and short-form video platforms in the early 2020s. In that meme, Ohio became shorthand for strange, cursed, or surreal events, so creators started labeling random or unsettling audio as if it belonged to that world. This clip is mainly used as a comedic ringtone rather than for a clearly credited original source. Its staying power comes from how quickly it signals absurdity, much like other TikTok audio cues such as the Oh No No No Tik Tok Song Sound Effect.
About this sound
A meme ringtone clip known online as the Ohio ringtone, used in TikTok and short edits when something feels cursed, random or weirdly dramatic.
This clip is a short meme ringtone commonly labeled the Ohio ringtone in reposts and soundboards. It has the kind of exaggerated, attention-grabbing phone tone people use for absurd reveals, awkward interruptions, or jokes about something being off in a very specific internet way. The sound lands best when it cuts through silence or normal conversation, because the sudden ringtone feel makes the moment seem more chaotic and strangely important. Viewers usually read it as part of the broader Ohio meme style, where everyday situations are framed as bizarre, cursed, or unintentionally dramatic.
