About this sound

Omaru Polka's extended jiiii staring sound from Hololive, a drawn-out VTuber vocalisation used for awkward staring, suspicion and reaction edits.

This clip is Omaru Polka from Hololive drawing out a single 'jiiii' sound for several seconds, the Japanese vocalisation for staring intently at something. Her voice stays flat and focused at first, then keeps going far longer than expected, which turns a simple stare into a joke by itself. There is no music or effect underneath, just the clean vocal line and its comic persistence. Listeners instantly picture a character leaning in, eyes locked on, refusing to look away while everyone else waits for the moment to end.

Pro tip

Place the full jiiii over a freeze frame or slow zoom on Polka's target, letting the stare build before you cut away. Keep the background audio low so the flat vocal holds, and do not trim the tail or the drawn-out timing loses its punch.

How people use it

Drop it over a character staring silently at something suspicious.
Use it for awkward VTuber reaction edits and stream highlights.
Add it when someone is judging a bad take online.
Play it during a long uncomfortable pause in a video.

More information

Omaru Polka is a Japanese virtual YouTuber with Hololive Production, known for energetic clown themed streams, unpredictable bits and expressive reaction noises. The extended jiiii comes from the Japanese sound for staring fixedly, often written as ji and used in manga and anime when a character studies something in silence. Clips of VTubers holding that sound became easy reaction material because the meaning reads without translation, and Polka's version spread in short edits, stream compilations and soundboards as a shorthand for intense, uncomfortable scrutiny.
