Pou is the alien virtual pet from the mobile game of the same name, first released in the early 2010s, where players feed, clean and play with the small brown character. Short clips of Pou's simple vocal reactions began circulating as memes and reaction sounds, because the character's blank expression and soft noises fit confused or suspicious moments. The hmm clip works in the same way, and it is still used in short videos and edits, often alongside other familiar game and anime references, including searches pairing Pou with Goku.
About this sound
The short Pou hmm sound effect from the virtual pet game, a soft questioning hum used in memes and reaction videos when it looks confusing or suspicious.
The Pou hmm sound is a very short, soft vocal noise from the virtual pet Pou, lasting less than a second and built around a gentle rising hum that sounds curious, doubtful and slightly confused. It has a light, cartoonish tone, with no words and no background music, so the hesitation comes through clearly in a single breath. Played on its own, it feels like a small character pausing to think, which makes it useful for a quick double take, a raised eyebrow moment or a quiet reaction to something odd. Its brevity keeps the joke fast and leaves the visual punchline to do the rest of the work.
