About this sound

A whispered psst that suddenly turns into a loud jumpscare scream, based on the Roblox Doors entity. Creators use it for pranks and gaming edits.

The clip starts with a quiet, close-up psst, like someone trying to get your attention from just behind you. A beat of silence follows, then the sound erupts into a high, distorted screech that feels much louder than the whisper before it. The contrast is what makes it work, because the soft cue makes you lean in and listen just before the noise hits. Viewers instantly feel startled and on edge, even when they know a scare is coming, which is why the moment lands as both a jumpscare and a joke.

Pro tip

Place the psst just before a character turns around or a door opens, then let the screech land exactly on the cut to their face. Keep the whisper low in the mix and avoid music underneath, so the volume jump feels sudden.

How people use it

Drop it behind a friend sneaking through a dark hallway.
Use it when a horror game character suddenly spots you.
Add it to a prank where someone whispers then screams.
Play it as a fake jumpscare in a quiet video.

More information

Screech is an entity from the Roblox horror game Doors, released in 2022, where it appears in dark rooms and warns players with a distinctive psst. Players who fail to find and look at it in time are met with its screech and an attack. Clips of that cue were cut into short audios and shared across TikTok, YouTube Shorts and gaming edits, turning a small in-game warning into a recognisable prank sound. It remains popular because the whisper alone signals danger to anyone who knows the game.
