About this sound

A short meme clip of SpongeBob and Squidward making out, often dropped into funny edits and reaction videos to joke about the unlikely cartoon pairing.

This seven-second clip leans into pure cartoon absurdity, pairing exaggerated kissing and smacking noises with the voices and personalities of SpongeBob and Squidward. The humour comes from the mismatch: cheerful, innocent SpongeBob pressed up against his grumpy, long-suffering neighbour in a moment that would never happen in the actual show. Played on its own, it sounds ridiculous, awkward and deliberately over the top, which is exactly why it lands as a punchline. It works best as a shock gag, turning an ordinary edit into something viewers immediately recognise as a joke.

Pro tip

Drop it right after a wholesome SpongeBob moment or a deadpan Squidward line, then cut to a disgusted reaction shot. Keep the volume low enough to hear the smacks, and do not loop it, since one awkward burst is funnier than a long, uncomfortable stretch.

How people use it

Joking about an unlikely couple in a meme edit.
Cutting to it after a wholesome SpongeBob scene.
Pranking a friend with a shocking reaction sound.
Captioning a fan edit about Squidward and SpongeBob.

More information

No single episode explains this clip, because it circulates online as a fan-made joke rather than a scene from SpongeBob SquarePants itself. Short, out-of-context cartoon audio travels fast on meme pages and video edits, where an absurd pairing gets more attention than a faithful scene ever would. Its seven-second length makes it easy to drop into reaction videos, TikTok edits and Discord jokes, and it sits naturally alongside other SpongeBob clips like SpongeBob Fail that remix familiar characters for comedy.

FAQ

What is the SpongeBob and Squidward making out sound?

It is a short, seven-second meme clip featuring exaggerated kissing and smacking noises associated with SpongeBob and Squidward. It is used as a joke sound effect, not as a serious romantic scene from the show.

Where does the sound come from?

It circulates as a fan-made meme edit rather than a confirmed scene from SpongeBob SquarePants. The humour relies on taking two familiar cartoon neighbours and placing them in an absurd, unexpected situation for comedy.

How do creators use this sound in videos?

Creators usually drop it after a wholesome or serious moment, then cut to a shocked or disgusted reaction. A single short burst works best, because the joke depends on surprise rather than repeating the sound for a long time.
