About this sound

The iconic battle cry from Lion-O in the ThunderCats cartoon, stretched into a long howling shout used for heroic entrances and dramatic reaction clips.

This is Lion-O raising the Sword of Omens and unleashing the ThunderCats rallying cry, with the final syllable held and stretched into a long, echoing howl. The voice starts strong and heroic, then wavers slightly as it carries on far longer than expected, turning a serious cartoon moment into something funny. It lands as pure nostalgia for 1980s animation fans, and as an over the top announcement for anyone else. Played suddenly, it makes an ordinary entrance, reveal or victory feel like a dramatic call to action.

Pro tip

Place the cry right as a character, product or text reveal hits the screen, letting the long tail ring out over a freeze frame. Keep music low underneath, do not trim the stretch, and avoid using it twice in one short edit.

How people use it

Drop it when a hero makes a dramatic entrance.
Use it for cartoon nostalgia edits and throwbacks.
Play it before revealing a costume or cosplay.
Add it to gaming wins for mock heroic effect.

More information

ThunderCats premiered in 1985 as an American animated series about cat-like humanoids who flee their dying home planet Thundera and settle on Third Earth. Its leader, the young Lord Lion-O, wields the Sword of Omens and summons the team with the rallying cry that builds from repeated thunder calls into a final shouted Ho. Reruns, home video and later reboots kept the line alive for new audiences, and online the stretched version became a standalone reaction sound shared for heroic, nostalgic and deliberately overblown moments.

FAQ

What is the ThunderCats Ho sound?

The clip is Lion-O's rallying cry from ThunderCats, ending in a long stretched Ho. In the show he raises the Sword of Omens to call the other ThunderCats into action, which is why the shout sounds heroic, urgent and instantly recognisable to cartoon fans.

Where does the ThunderCats cry come from?

It comes from the 1985 animated series ThunderCats, created around a team of cat-like heroes led by Lion-O on Third Earth. The cry was his signature summoning call in episode openings and battle scenes, and it remained the show's most quoted line through reruns and reboots.

How do people use this sound in edits?

Creators drop it before reveals, entrances and mock heroic wins where a normal cheer would feel too small. The stretched ending works best left uncut, played over a freeze frame or slow zoom so the joke is how long the shout keeps going.
