About this sound

The drawn-out shout of Battler Ushiromiya from Umineko When They Cry, stretched into a dramatic battle cry for anime edits, reaction videos and meme moments.

Battler Ushiromiya Battleeeeeeer is a short, high-energy vocal shout built around the hero's name from Umineko When They Cry, stretched out until it sounds like a desperate battle cry. The voice rises sharply, holds the final syllable for a beat too long, and then cuts off abruptly, which makes it feel both dramatic and slightly unhinged. Played over a reveal, a comeback or a hopeless argument, it turns a normal anime moment into a theatrical showdown, giving viewers an instant sense of over-the-top confidence, defiance and comic intensity.

Pro tip

Drop it right on the frame where Battler charges in or delivers his counterargument, then cut the music for a split second so the stretched name lands alone. Avoid looping it back to back, since the joke is the single overlong shout, not a chant.

How people use it

Anime editors use it for a dramatic character entrance reveal.
Creators add it to a heated debate or comeback clip.
Streamers play it when facing an impossible boss fight.
Meme makers pair it with an exaggerated victory moment.

More information

Battler Ushiromiya is the main character of Umineko When They Cry, a Japanese mystery visual novel series by 07th Expansion that later received anime and manga adaptations. Fans turned his dramatic confrontations and shouted name into a recognizable meme shorthand for refusing to back down, and short clips like this one spread through anime soundboards and edit communities. It endures because the stretched delivery is instantly recognizable even without context, working as both a sincere hype cue and a joke about anime overacting.

The clip is a drawn-out shout of the name Battler, with the final syllable stretched for comic and dramatic effect. It sounds like a battle cry rather than a normal spoken line, which is why editors use it for entrances and confrontations.

Why is this sound popular for anime edits?
