With almost no identifying information in its original upload, this clip circulates online purely as a generic zombie sound rather than a quote from a named film or game. Its short length and exaggerated groan make it easy to reuse across soundboards, short form edits and horror themed memes. Creators treat it as a stock undead cue, similar in use to other monster growls, and it continues to be shared because it communicates zombie instantly without explanation or setup for the audience watching.
About this sound
Short zombie groan sound effect with a distorted, undead moan. Creators use it for horror edits, jump scare reactions and spooky meme videos online.
This is a brief, guttural zombie vocalisation lasting just under five seconds, built around a low, throaty groan that rises and then trails off. The delivery sounds strained and inhuman, with a wet, rasping texture that instantly reads as undead rather than a normal human voice. It works because it is short and clear, landing as an immediate horror cue without needing music or context. Viewers recognise the intent straight away, so a normal scene can feel threatening, gross or darkly funny the moment the groan cuts in over the picture.
