The Jungle Book began as Rudyard Kipling's 1894 collection of stories about a boy raised by wolves in the Indian jungle, and it became a lasting part of popular culture through later stage, film and animated retellings, most famously Disney's 1967 animated film. Its jungle setting, animal characters and sense of freedom have made it easy to recognise across generations and languages, including in German as Dschungelbuch. Online, short clips from the story are reused for adventure, nature and nostalgia-themed edits, where a few seconds are enough to suggest the whole jungle world.
