About this sound

The John Cena name reveal sound effect from the WWE meme, with the announcer shouting his intro over loud trumpets, used for surprise entrances.

A man suddenly shouts the build up to a wrestling entrance, followed by a loud announcer yelling that his name is John Cena while dramatic trumpets blast in. The delivery gets faster and louder toward the reveal, turning an ordinary moment into a mock heroic entrance. The joke lands because the voice treats the name like a huge event, even when the video shows something small, random or completely unrelated. It works best as a sudden interruption that catches the viewer off guard.

Pro tip

Cut straight to the shout just before someone walks in, opens a door or appears on screen, then let the trumpets cover the entrance. Keep the moments before it quiet and ordinary, and do not stretch the clip after the reveal.

How people use it

Drop it when a friend makes a dramatic entrance.
Play it before revealing an unexpected guest on camera.
Use it when a pet suddenly barges into frame.
Add it to edits announcing someone in a group chat.

More information

John Cena is a WWE wrestler whose entrance music features the distinctive trumpet fanfare heard in this clip. In the mid 2010s the dramatic introduction became the Unexpected John Cena meme online, where normal videos were suddenly cut off by his name reveal and theme. Clips spread through Vine, YouTube and other short video edits, usually as a surprise punchline. It remains popular because the build up is instantly recognisable, even before the name is shouted, and the contrast between a calm setup and a loud wrestling entrance still feels funny.
