Scary scream sounds have circulated online for years as a staple of the scream meme format, shared across short videos, edits and soundboards without a single confirmed original source. The French title translates to a scream that scares, which describes exactly how it is used rather than where it came from. Clips like this spread because the reaction is universal and needs no context or language. Editors keep reusing it for horror parodies, gaming fails and prank compilations, where one sudden cry can turn an ordinary moment into a joke or a genuine jump scare.
About this sound
A loud scary scream sound effect used for jump scares, horror edits and prank videos. Perfect for shocking reactions and tense meme moments online.
This is a piercing, high-pitched scream designed to startle anyone who hears it. The cry rises suddenly, loud and strained, with the raw panic of a classic horror moment. It cuts through silence instantly, making viewers jump before they even see what happened on screen. Creators use that shock value for jump scares, fake horror trailers, and over-the-top reaction edits where a normal scream would not be dramatic enough. Short, intense, and instantly recognisable as a scare sound, it works best when it arrives without any warning at all.
