About this sound

A 32-second Encanto and Maroon 5 mashup built around the broken smile line. Fans use the emotional crossover clip in edits, reaction videos and TikTok-style montage moments.

This is a fan-made mashup that layers the emotional energy of Encanto's soundtrack with Maroon 5's style, centred on the 'don't talk about the broken smile' hook. The vocals are pitch-shifted and drenched in effects, giving it a slightly surreal, internet-remix quality that drifts between tender and dramatic. It lands best as an ironic underscore for a sad reveal or a character breaking their cheerful facade, because the melody feels familiar while the lyrics hit like a private confession.

Pro tip

Drop it right as a character's grin fades or a happy caption flips to sad text. Keep the clip at low volume under dialogue, and cut it sharply at the vocal peak rather than letting it fade out.

How people use it

Underlining a sad plot twist in a fan edit.
Soundtracking a before and after glow-down meme.
Reacting to a friend hiding their feelings.
Closing a dramatic storytime video with irony.

More information

Fan mashups pairing Encanto's songs with pop artists became a staple of TikTok and YouTube edits after the film's release, with creators remixing vocals through free voice-changer tools to get a dreamy, distorted finish. This version leans on that formula, blending the heartfelt Disney style with Maroon 5's radio-pop polish around a single emotional line. Because the raw upload credits an online voice changer, it reads as a bedroom-producer experiment rather than an official track, and it survives online as a niche edit sound for melancholy memes.
