The phrase grew out of two internet cultures colliding in the early 2020s. Among Us turned sus into everyday slang for suspicious behavior during its viral peak, and the Among Us sus label stuck to countless remixes. Baka, borrowed from Japanese anime dialogue, was already a familiar playful insult online. Combining them created sussy baka, a mock-serious accusation that spread through TikTok, Discord soundboards and gaming edits. It remains popular because it sounds accusatory and affectionate at once, letting creators tease friends without real hostility.
